The western beaches of the Island are still putting out a few coho for anglers that have not put away their gear for the season. The regulars are still catching fish at Bush, Lagoon and Casey. The fishing has definitely slowed, but those putting in the time are still catching a few fish. Most of the folks have been fishing floats and herring, Buzz Bombs, Krockodile Spoons or Wannabees.
There should be coho through the month, however the numbers are declining and the fishing will get slower as the season progresses.
Chum (Dog) salmon will be migrating past the beaches here just shortly, but for the number that pass by very few are caught. Perhaps one of these days we might figure out how to consistently catch more off the beach.
On the other hand, beach fishing for winter steelhead with get going around the middle of next month.
