Saltwater Coho Salmon
Though the weather has turned to our more typical Fall weather and the number of days that one can fish the saltwater has declined there are still a few good reports coming in. We had a few of the regular guys in yesterday that managed to find a few coho in the Picnic Point / Shipwreck are south of Mukilteo. Didn't sound that is was a slam dunk day of coho fishing but at least there were a few fish caught. Most of the fish were found in the deeper water areas off the beach and most were caught in the 40 - 60 foot zone, though some of the boys did find them a bit deeper. From what we are hearing from the Straits, there are still good numbers of fish moving through those areas and we should see a fair shot of coho all through the month of October. However, these later returning fish do have a tendency of just having the river on their minds and not biting real well. This season has been one of the best years I have seen for fish that are willing to bite this late in the season. A far cry from last year when it was a real oddity to entice one into biting, even though they were there in good numbers.
