We have been getting some fairly good reports of chum fishing out of the southern part of Hood Canal. A few of the customers fished the Skokomish on Saturday and had some fair fishing drifting corkies and yarn. Another group fished the Hoodsport hatchery area and also had fair reports also fishing corkies and yarn fished just off the bottom and retrieved slowly. We also had a couple of guys that fished the mouths of some of the other lower Hood Canal streams fishing floats with anchovies and they too also reported some fairly good reports.
There has been a lot of commercial effort by both the non tribal netters as well as the tribes. From what some of the guys have said it is a wonder that there are any fish making it back to spawn at all.
