Spring Chinook Closed on Kalama and Lewis Rivers Beginning May 28th

Due to extremely low returns of Spring Chinook on the Kalama and Lewis Rivers the season will close effective May 28th. As of May 20th the Kalama had only 11 adult spring Chinook return to the Kalama Falls Hatchery, well below the hatchery brood stock goal of 400 fish. On the Lewis less than 100 fish have entered the traps, well below the 1,300 fish escapement goal.
