11th Annual Port Angeles Salmon Club's Halibut Derby

Don't forget the 11th Annual Port Angeles Salmon Club's Halibut Derby will be held this Saturday and Sunday, May 28th & 29th. Tickets and information are available online at www.swainsinc.com. This is a really large event with $20,000.00 paid out in prizes. The top prize is $5,000.00 and goes down to $135.00 for the 3oth place.

In speaking with Norm Metzler, one of the Salmon Club's board members he said that though overall the halibut fishing has not been as good as what was seen last year there has been some really outstanding fish landed over the past couple of weeks. The largest over 170 pounds and a number pushing over 100. Norm mentioned that the fishing has been more productive in the area from Green Point and east, with the Sequim, Dungeness and Dallas Bank areas turning out the better fishing.
