We are hearing of better catches of silvers coming from the Snohomish system every day. Most of the regular guys have long tired of catching pinks and can't wait until they are dead and gone and no longer the nuisance that they are. The pinks have just been a bane for those trying to target the silvers and have to wade through them for the silvers that they manage to catch.
Wouldn't say that it is red hot on the silvers but we have had a number if guys that have limited out on nice bright silvers in the 6 - 15 pound range. Dick Nite spoons in the wee and #1 sizes have been the lure of choice in 50 / 50 Brass / Nickle, Nickle Back Frog and Chrome Chartreuse Tip are the most popular color choices. Many anglers have been trolling Fat Fish plugs in the lower tidal stretches of the river in Fire Tiger, Flame and Flame Black Herringbone color patterns and doing well. Another popular method has been fishing 3/8 to 1/2 oz jig heads with green / chartreuse colored mini squid patterns have been scoring well. You might even resort to fishing spinners like Vibrex to entice these sometimes had to get to bite coho.
If there is one word when it comes to fishing coho in the local rivers it is persistence. Put in the time and eventually you will find that they will bite. Keep putting in the time and change your offerings fairly often, both in lure styles, colors and presentations.
We are just at the start of the best river coho fishing of the season. The whole month of October is the best time in our local streams
