Yesterday, on the morning tide there was a good push of coho that entered into the system. A number of our customers saw good numbers jumping in the lower tide water section of the river yesterday morning. With the push there were a fair number of them caught by anglers fishing for pinks both yesterday morning, afternoon and evening. We heard of coho caught as high up as Bob Heirman Park last night. This morning Shawn saw coho being caught in the Skykomish. These fish are pushing into the system fairly fast.
For those wanting to target the coho over the pinks might change their gear over and start pitching some spinners (Vibrex #3's in Silver/Green, Silver/Blue, Silver Chartreuse or Silver Flame combinations. Dick Nite spoons fished with a dropper set-up with a 5-7 foot leader is also a very productive method. For those fishing the tide water, a good choice is trolling Fat Fish plug in Flame, Flame/Black Herringbone or Fire Tiger color patterns can find good results of these just out of the saltwater coho.
