Edmonds Pier - King Fishing

Today marked the best single morning of salmon fishing off the Edmond's pier.  We heard that there was 17 kings hooked this morning with amazing 10 landed.  Overall, the pier has not been exactly a ball of fire this season, though this past week has shown the best numbers we have seen.  With both Areas 9 and 10 being closed to king salmon by emergency orders, with yesterday being the last day.  The pier remains open and is the last place that one can legally retain a king in Area 9.  It is a one fish limit off the pier with both hatchery and wild Chinook being able to be retained.  We will see mature kings being caught off the pier into mid September.  Various minnow lures such as Point Wilson Darts, Gibbs Minnows and Crippled Herring have been the lures of choice with those in the 2 - 2 1/2 ounce range and Pearl White, Pearl Green, Green Glow, Green Silver or Black Silver colors being the most commonly used.
