Things are looking very positive for king salmon fishing in SE Alaska this season. The AK Dept of Fish & Wildlife has allocated a sport catch of 54,515 king salmon. With a preseason abundance index of 1.69 this equates to a more liberal limit on king salmon to both residents and nonresidents alike.
Alaskan Residents: The resident bag limit and possession limit is three king salmon 28 inches or greater in length.
Nonresident: The nonresident bag and possession limit is one king salmon 28 inches or greater in length; except during May 2011 when the bag and possession limit is two king salmon 28 inches or greater in length. The nonresident annual limit is five king salmon 28 inches or greater in length.
Last year the nonresident annual limit was three king salmon in southeast.
