Columbia River Spring Chinook To Reopen to Sportfishing

Due to the poor catch results by recreational anglers during this years Spring Chinook fishery which closed on Monday April 4th, the fishery managers have decided to reopen the fishery an additional eight days. (And perhaps more) This fishery will reopen Friday April 8th and run through Friday April 15th. The fishery will be from Bouy 10 to Rooster Rock. This area will be open for boat bank and boat fishermen. The area from Rooster Rock to Bonneville Dam will be for bank anglers only. One hatchery chinook per day and be retaied as well as shad and hatchery steelhead.

Hopefully we will see some additional fish move into the system. However, the river below the Willamette has been out of shape for the most part. Perhaps it will clear slightly before friday and open up a greater section on the river to fish effectively.
