Whidbey Beaches

The beaches on the west side of Whidbey Island put out a few salmon for the beach fishermen this past weekend. There were a few coho in the 4 - 6 pound range as well as an odd king with the largest we heard of was around 18 pounds, a wild fish that had to be released. I would say that the coho were resident fish at the present time, larger ocean coho should show in the catches by the end of this month. Most everyone we spoke with was fishing Pearl Fishscale Krockodile spoons, though Buzz Bombs, Wanabees or herring fished under a float should all account for some action.
This fishery should get very productive this next month and with good numbers of coho heading to the Snohomish, Stillagumish and Skagit systems we if fact should see some very good fishing.
