Lone Lake - Whidbey Island

For those of you that would like to partake of some good late season trout fishing you just might want to give Lone Lake on Whidbey Island a try. We are hearing of some nice rainbows up to 20 inches being caught and released by some of our feather flinging customers. Wouldn't say that the fishing is fast and furious but most are getting enough action to keep things interesting. Remember that this is a Selective lake, meaning flies or lures only with a single barbless hook, no bait or scent and if you so desire there is a one fish limit with a minimum size of 18 inches. Most however release their catch to maintain the quality of the fishery.

This time of year most fly fishermen are fishing small to medium sized leech type patterns. The gear fishermen are fishing small Yakima Bait Flatfish in F-2 through F-4 sizes in neutral color patterns such as frog , perch scale, or black.

This is a year around lake and will put out good fishing through out the milder portions of the winter and spring.
