Salt Water Scene - Coho

This week has been very good for those seeking out nice bright ocean coho. For the most part we have seen and heard of lots of limits from all the guys stopping by. Perhaps some of the better fishing has been out of the Edmonds area. Fish 30 - 60 feet deep and out in the open water. Gear wise we have seen everything from soup to nuts catching these nice fish. Though I would have to say generally a Glo Hot Spot Flasher with any squid in chartreuse / green color combinations upon a glow or UV White body has been quite productive. Don't forget a little strip of herring to sweeten up your offering. Fish the squids on a 32 - 36 inch leader in 25 -40 pound test. Fish "Fast" at least 2 1/2 mph, and up to 4 mph is really not too fast. Coho Killer spoons are another "Good" choice for these silvers. There again anything in the green / chartreuse colors on glow or UV White base colors have all been productive. Fish a little longer leader in the 36 - 42 inch range on these spoons.

Good luck if you are fishing the derby!
