Lots of "Really Nice" coho were caught out of the Edmonds area this morning. I looked at a bunch of them in the 10 -13 pound range. They are as nice of coho as you would like - nice and bright and very deep and healthy.
Most every one I talked with caught them shallow in the 30 -60 foot range. As far as gear went most did well on Hot Spots with either a OAL 12 R (Purple Haze) or OG 142R (Green Hornet) with a little strip of herring on the front hook.
Most of the fish were caught in the deep water and not on the beach.

Mukilteo Ramp Closed This Weekend
The Mukilteo boat ramp will be closed this weekend due to the fact that the city is having "Lighthouse Days". They will be utilizing all the parking for the event.
Not much that anyone can do but haul to Everett.

Edmonds Coho Derby Tickets
The Edmonds Coho Derby Committee brought us an additional 50 tickets this afternoon, for anyone that is looking for them. This is going to be the last that we will be receiving, as they are very close to selling the 750 allotted. I am sure the remaining tickets will be sold out in the next few days. Don't be disappointed, get your tickets "Now" before there are no more to be sold.
Edmonds Coho & Pinks
Quite a number of our regular customers have been in today that had been fishing just out of Edmonds and all found limits of coho in the 7 -13 pound range. Most everyone found them out in the deeper water in the shipping lanes at a depth of 30 -60 feet. For those that were not satisfied with their coho limits they also were able to get their additional pinks without much trouble. As far as gear went most everyone fished a flasher/squid or spoon combination. Some of the better squids were 077. 140 142, 167 and 12. The Ace High Flies by Silver Horde and Grand Slam Bucktails in White and the Green/Chartreuse colors have also been quite productive. In the Coho Killer spoons, any of the UV White or Glo base colors with green, chartreuse colors are a good bet.
We should only see better coho fishing in the next couple of weeks.

Snohomish River Coho
Yesterday, on the morning tide there was a good push of coho that entered into the system. A number of our customers saw good numbers jumping in the lower tide water section of the river yesterday morning. With the push there were a fair number of them caught by anglers fishing for pinks both yesterday morning, afternoon and evening. We heard of coho caught as high up as Bob Heirman Park last night. This morning Shawn saw coho being caught in the Skykomish. These fish are pushing into the system fairly fast.
For those wanting to target the coho over the pinks might change their gear over and start pitching some spinners (Vibrex #3's in Silver/Green, Silver/Blue, Silver Chartreuse or Silver Flame combinations. Dick Nite spoons fished with a dropper set-up with a 5-7 foot leader is also a very productive method. For those fishing the tide water, a good choice is trolling Fat Fish plug in Flame, Flame/Black Herringbone or Fire Tiger color patterns can find good results of these just out of the saltwater coho.

Stillagumish River - Pinks & Coho
We have heard of good numbers of coho showing up in the catches the past few days in the lower Stillagumish River. Not just one here or one there but anglers that are catching their two fish limit. Most of the guys that we have been talking with have caught them fishing Dick Nite spoons with a dropper lead set-up. Most of the fish that we have heard of are in the 6 - 10 pound range. It's nice to see this early push of coho into the system. Besides the coho, there are good numbers of pinks to be caught also.

Saturday Report - Coho & Pinks
Though the weather was a little blustery and wet in the local marine areas today, those that did get out were well rewarded with a mixture of pinks and coho. Most of the pinks came from the Humpy Hollow / Everett / Mukilteo shoreline. There were lots of limits caught in this area today. We also had lots of good coho reports coming in from the west side of Whidbey, Possession Point as well as the Edmonds area. Most of the coho were in the 7 - 14 pound range.
Also had good reports on coho in the Tacoma area with a couple of 16 and a 17 pound fish weighed in at Pt Defiance today.

Whidbey Island - Coho
We have been getting rave reports for the Whidbey Island fishermen on coho fishing in the Bush Point - Lagoon Point areas on really nice ocean coho in the 7 -14 pound range. We have been hearing of lots of limits on these nice sized fish. They have been hitting fish pulling the UV Jelly Crush Hot Spot Flashers (Color 950) and an OAL 12 R (Purple Haze) Golden Bait Squid in a 35 size. Sweeten the front hook with a small strip of herring and you are ready to go. From the number of Island folks that have been over to purchase the flashers this past week, I would have to say that there must be something to their effectiveness.
With the rain that we have seen and more on the way we should see a good push of coho into the Straits and then into Puget Sound over the weekend and this next week.
