Spring Chinook - Barrier Dam - Cowlitz River

One of the customers was fishing at the barrier damn section of the Cowlitz yesterday and said he saw 7 chinook landed during the time he was there. He mentioned that there were five caught on the launch side and two on the island. Most of the fish were in the low to mid teen sizes. Most of the fish were caught on corkies and eggs / shrimp combinations. This is the first "Good" catch of springers that we have heard of so far this season. Hopefully we will be seeing even better results in the near future.

Lower in the river in the Massey's Bar section of the river we also had reports of Chinook being caught along with a few steelhead. In fact we had one of our customers in this AM that had seven steelhead in his boat over the weekend fishing from the Launch area downstream to Blue Creek, Clay Banks and down to Massey's.
