Columbia River Catch Update

From Feb. 1 - March 21 there has been an estimated 43,000 angler trips with 2,800 adult Chinook and 400 steelhead caught. An estimated 87% of the Chinook caught were kept. An estimated 55% of the Chinook retained were lower river stocks based upon Visual Stock Identification (VSI).

That's 15.36 angler trips for each Chinook landed. As I said in an earlier post, fishing isn't anything to write home about yet.

We did have a couple to reports out of the Cathlamet area the past few days that were not too bad! Hopefully it is the start of better things to come.

Many anglers have been doing well fishing anchovies rather than herring!
