We are getting down to the end of the king season here in Marine Area 9 and the fishing is still holding up quite well. We saw some really good fishing yesterday in the tin shed area off Cultus Bay. Many of our customers had limits of mid sized hatchery kings on the AM outgoing tide. It seemed that most were fishing plugs in the 4 - 6 inch range and it was all over the board as to Tomics or Silver Hordes. It seemed everyone caught their fish on something different. This seasons favorites in the Tomic 602, 603 and 600 patterns all seemed to turn up as well as Silver Horde plugs in the 4 & 5 inch models in the 60 and 61 patterns as well as their "New" Purple UV Canadian models. We even had one of the guys that did his best on the old 126 (Plain Pearl White) which is as old school as you can get. No Glow! No UV! Guess the fish weren't told that was a No! No! In the old days (late 60's and 70's) I couldn't tell you how many kings that I caught on this "Old School" plug. Countless!
Anyway, we also saw a few days on Point No Point that were as good as you could have wanted on Sunday and Monday.
We have also been getting "Good" reports from the Edmonds - Richmond Beach area with both the trollers and moochers accounting for some good catches.
With the king season ending next Tuesday, August 31st and with the fishing still holding up quite well, it might be a good idea to plan a day or two on the water before things are through.
