Crabbing To Close - Monday September 7 th

Marine Areas 6, 8-1, 8-2, 9, 10 & 11 will close after Monday 7th September to all recreational crabbing.

Marine Areas 7 South, 7 East and 7 North will remain open through September 30th.

Marine Area 12 (Hood Canal) will remain open through January 2nd.

Make sure to consult your WDFW regulation pamphlet for all the additional requirements.

Skykomish - Steelhead

With the first of our fall rains falling last night and throughout the weekend this would be an ideal time to get up into the upper Skykomish and chase some summer run steelhead. When we see the first cooler water into the streams in the Fall it always seems to perk up the summer runs that have been laying in their tight niches all summer long and refreshes them into moving around and are more motivated to bite. So if you have the desire to give up the salmon rod for a day you might just be pleasantly surprised with the steelhead fishing that you might experience.

New Shipment - Small Wanabees

We received another 150 small Wanabees in Hot Pink today. sounds like they will be the last of the season as Dave is out of the small blanks. These are one of the better pink salmon lures that we sell year in year out, both for the saltwater or fresh.

Stillaguamish Pinks

The Stillaguamish River has been turning out good numbers of pinks the past few days, with many anglers scoring by fishing #1 Dick Nite spoons fished on a 5 - 7 foot 8 pound leader and sliding lead arrangement. We have been seeing most of the Dick Nite spoon sales tending toward
pink / pearl, 50 / 50 Brass /Nickle or Green Frog Nickle Back color combinations.

The Silvana section of the lower river has been perhaps the most popular and most heavily fished area.

Don't forget that this is a selective fishery regulation with single barbless hooks and no bait or scent restrictions.

With the rain coming in later this evening and tomorrow we just might see this system go out of shape for a few days.

Skagit River / A Little On The Grey Side

Nick Petosa stopped by today and said the the Skagit was a little on the grey side today, though the height is not bad the river has colored up with a combination of the rain and the warmer weather has had an adverse effect on the water clarity. Even with the colored water he said the plunkers were still out in numbers trying to lure a fish or two. Though conditions are not ideal, there still should be a fish or two landed with the number of fish that are moving through the system.

Shilshole / Alki Coho Reports

Talked with Pete(WDFW Fish Checker) and he said that there were over 60 coho checked in so far this AM at the ramp. He said that all the regulars had their limits of nice coho in the 7 - 13 pound range. He also said that there were good numbers also landed in the Alk1 area also. Looks like we should see "Good" fishing over the weekend.

Sand Shrimp

We have a full fridge of fresh sand shrimp stocked up for the weekend. So no matter if your are using them to tip your favorite pink salmon jig or plunking them behind you spin-n-glo on the Skagit, we have lots of lively little critters for you.

Snohomish River Tidal Pinks

Talked with a few of the customers purchasing gear for this evenings pink salmon fishing in the tidal section of the Snohomish. Everyone I talked with had good numbers of fish hooked and landed in this section of the river. Most we talked with did well tossing 2 - 21/2 inch Buzz Bombs in Hot Pink.

One of the customers had better that 25 fish on to get his limit. Just couldn't keep them pinned.

The tides are perfect for the next few evenings down on the lower river. Try the Lowell section of the river.

Mukilteo - Picnic Point - Pinks

Talked with a number of anglers fishing these two local spots this morning. Picnic Point didn't turn out anything from what we heard. There were about 20 fly anglers fishing there is morning and the one customer that we spoke to said he did not see a single fish.

Mukilteo turned out just a few pinks this AM for just a couple of anglers fishing Buzz Bombs off the beach to the south of the boat launch.

Shilshole - Coho

Talked with Tim (One of our die hard moochers) this AM and he said that there was a hot coho bite at the green can. He caught and released a fair number early this morning. The fish ran from 7 - 12 pounds. He was mooching green sized plug cut herring at the 30 foot zone. He said the hardware trollers were also doing well.

Looks like we have a good number of coho around for this holiday weekend.
