Snohiomish River - Pinks

The reports that we have been receiving from the Snohomish River have been nothing short of "Great". Though we have had an odd individual in that has not been doing well, the vast majority of fishermen have been ranting about the results that they have had. There have been good numbers fish through out the system and it is a personal decision as to where to fish the river. The guys in the tide water areas of Langus Park / Lowell / Snohomish have been fishing lots of 2 & 2 1/2 inch Buzz Bombs and Wanabees in hot pink colors. There are also a number fishing 3/8 oz to 1/2 ounce spoons in pink / pearl pink colors and doing well as they are on jigs of marabou, plastic squids or rabbit. Some anglers have been trolling Dick Nite and FST spoons in the tide water and also decking their fair share of fish.

Fishing should be good until around the 20th of September or so.

We are seeing the first of the coho entering the river and will only get better as the time goes on.

Coho Hitting Whidbey Beaches

Many of the Island folks have dropped by the past couple of days and it sounds like the coho beach fishing has gotten into the full swing mode. Fishermen are connecting with them fishing floats and herring, Buzz Bombs, Wanabees and spoons. There are lots of nice sized fish in the 8 - 13 pound range and we are looking to see some really nice fish in the high teens to even the low twenties in the weeks to come. Reports from Seiku and Neah bay have been fantastic with a good number of these larger fish being caught.

This holiday weekend should show some very good fishing from the Island with the reports that we have been getting. Don't forget your rain gear as it looks like we may be getting wet for a few days.

200 Edmonds Coho Derby Tickets Remain

Talked with the head honchos of the Edmonds Coho Derby today and they said there were about 200 derby tickets left out of the 750 number. They dropped off another allotment to us this afternoon, so any of you that stopped by to purchase them yesterday (only to find that we were out) can come back and get them now.

The coho fishing is getting better every tide and we have heard "Great" coho reports from a number of our customers the past few days. I would have to say that Edmonds Coho Derby committee has hit it right on the head as far as timing. Lots of nice coho are being caught in the 7 - 14 pound range the last few days.

Edmond's Coho Derby Tickets

Don't Forget to buy your tickets for the Edmond's Coho Derby coming up on Saturday September 12th. We have just 10 tickets left of our allocation. We will try to get more once those are gone. Don't wait! You just might be wishing that you had bought them when you had a chance.

Edmonds Coho - Getting Better Every Day

The coho are beginning to stack up in the Edmonds area! We have had a number of our customers catch good numbers of 8 -13 pound coho in the Edmonds area the past few days. One of our customers had 2 limits of these nice ocean fish fishing the shipping lanes off Edmonds in the 35 - 60 foot zone yesterday evening. With the upcoming freshet coming latter in the week we should see a good push of ocean coho by this weekend. Remember that these early fish bite far better than the fish that arrive later.

Pink Buzz Bomb 2 & 2 1/2 inch

If you are having trouble finding 2 & 2 1/2 inch Buzz Bombs in Pink, we have received another shipment today. We have quite a few, but with the way things have been there is no telling how long we will have them. We are hoping that we will receive another shipment the end of the week or the first of next week.

KIngs Closed in Marine Areas 9 & 10

Remember that the Chinook fishery in Marine Areas 9 & 10 are now closed. The only exception to the rule will be the Edmonds Pier, Elliot Bay Fishing Pier at Terminal 86, Waterman Pier, Bremerton Boardwalk and Ilahee State Park Pier and Seacrest Pier where the pier anglers will still be able to retain 1 Chinook. Though most pier anglers are targeting the pinks and silvers at the present time, there are still a few late kings that are sneaking by.

Kayak Point - Beach Fishing for Pinks

The beach fishing for pinks at Kayak Point County Park has been quite good over the past few days. Most of the anglers have been fishing pink Buzz Bombs or Wanabees off the beach on the south side of the dock. Though the beach is not very large, there has been quite a number of fishermen on this small strip of beach.

If you have a small boat one can launch at the park and run down the beach, anchor and cast your offering to the migrating pinks on the way into the Stillagumish River.

Silvers - Point No Point to Apple Tree Point

Had a few of the guys in today with some nice ocean silvers in the 8 -13 pound range that were caught on the Kitsap side of the sound this morning. Here they found the fish extremely deep, over 150 feet down. They were fishing Hot Spot Flashers and glow in the dark squid patters with a little strip of herring.

This fishery should only get better in the next few weeks.

Stillagumish Main River - Pink Salmon

The main Stillagumish River opened today for the retention of pink salmon. We have already had a number of individuals in that had caught their limits this morning. Most everyone that we chatted with was fishing the Silvana are and below. Everyone said that there were lots of fish in the river and everyone was hooking fish. It looks like we have a little rain coming in later in the week and over the weekend. A little rain would be good, but too much will put the river out of shape and unfishable. Only time will tell if it goes out.

Remember: The Stillagumish is a selective fish regulations stream, allowing only barbless single hooks with no bait and no scent. It is a four salmon limit with only a two silver limit, all Chinook must be released.

The pink fishery will be at its peak from now until around the 20th of the month, with some pinks still available into the first part of October. (Though they won't be in the best of shape.)
